HISTORY
The South African Body of Dance (SABOD) was originally founded as the South African Dance Teachers Association (SADTA) in 1935. It was at the forefront of dance education and competitive dance platforms in South Africa.

In 1992, the various branches of SADTA decided to split so that each association could focus on the development of its relevant disciplines of dance. This led to the formation of South African Dance Teachers Association Stage Branch (S.A.D.T.A. Stage Branch).

In 2015, the S.A.D.T.A Stage Branch was renamed and rebranded to become what is now known as SOUTH AFRICAN BODY OF DANCE (SABOD).

SABOD continues to be a leading organisation in the South African dance community and is a valuable resource for dancers of all ages and abilities.

SABOD offers a comprehensive syllabus for tap, modern and hip hop as well as hosting regular seminars and competitions.

SABOD is committed to promoting dance as a lifelong passion and career choice, and it is working to make dance accessible to everyone.
